The Cayman Islands are three large underwater mountains that are
described as plateau just emerged or mountain tops made out of lime
stone and coral. Approximately three quarters of Grand Cayman is
surrounded by shallow reefs that range from half mile to four miles
off shore. Five minutes beyond these reefs is where you would find
three to seven hundred feet of deep waters that is home to the Blue
Marlin; the Wahoo; the Yellow Fin Tuna; the Skip Jack Tuna; the Black
Fin Tuna; the Dolphin (the Mahi Mahi fish); and the Great Barracuda.
These fishes are commonly caught in these waters because of the easy
access and the availability of food provided for them because of
the amount of reefs that surrounds the island.
(In less than 25 minutes you are already deep sea fishing) and
if you charter the boat for the entire day your captain might just
take you down to the Twelve Mile Bank west of Grand Cayman, a popular
drifting spot for Yellow Fin Tunas. The Record Size of Fishes Caught:
